Clock watch is an exciting project and also relates to clock and bell systems. We are establishing a patent for the system.
One of the major problems with turret clocks and bell systems is they are hidden away. This means the public don’t see the clock or bell system and so cant appreciated it when funds are being raised for ongoing work. Those that have been privileged to go up to a tower, will know the pure timeless beauty of these mechanical giants.
To increase public awareness, we have in the past tackled this in a number of ways, reinstallation within public places and via the clock trust work. For instance, we document and broadcast on the internet stills and videos of the clock and bell systems.
The concept of Clockwatch was to open the oppertunities via the internet and the fall in price of digital cameras. Consider the idea world, where belling ring competitions and tours to see the turret clocks were freely available, well, by using the internet we can remove the burden of travel and provide ‘internet conference facilities’, worldwide for clocks and bells.
By placing a camera system at calculated positions, its possible to transmit the visual and audio environment anywhere in the world. This also has implication to security systems around the turret clock environment and remote diagnostics and maintenance.
As for fund raising the system provides online events and also archives, that customers can log into and hear the church bell in their village, when they are in say, New York. Competitions for bell ringing can be held world wide, turret clock interest satisfied. The current system can also cope with events within church, so you can ‘attend’ your church anywhere in the world!
