The time machine is run by volunteers, so please contact before any planned trip. We are generally opened 7 days a week (9-4 generally, some evening facilities and always somebody on site in a security mode). We are currently in 'public consultation' mode, free to enter and allows you to have a say and get involved. Its aimed for all to enjoy and explore. The volunteers will give guided tours and make the past come alive. The time machine is interested in the concept of time, without it there is nothing, and how it relates to space we all live in. The most important thing with time is to have fun with it, we hope you enjoy your time with us.
The time machine is being developed in the main hall. A top secret project, so mums the word.
Around the main inspirational zone, is a weird set of instruments related to time and measurement. You soon get involved with the reactive and enriching process that allows you to challenge and consider.
The hall also has on display, what makes time, or rather clocks and other products. From
rare Pitler lathes to the very basics of a file, you will see demonstrations of actual items being made. Some of these might be to do with the current projects, always changing.
The area, since 1968, has been a parade ground. Great space to enjoy and totally fenced. We plan outside activites and recently planted three trees. These represent:
1) Growth of the Talented and Gifted program and Creative Partnership.
2) Ever ending ripples of the acient game of go.
3) Planting of tree to represent the growth of the Southdowns National Park
The trees, form a NWSE cross in the garden, with the mature trees and represent the new horizons to the area and the sustainability of it. So whatever direction you go in its positive.
A nice place to have a sit down and chat. Always paper and art materials for the children
to join in the art competitions run. Meet the 6ft octopus, watch out for the Lancaster and hooray for the Victory. Meet the laughing Politian’s and their alien counterparts, we could not comment of which is which. Try and complete the ancient manuscript competition. Whether, by playing acient games, taste, vision or sound, we will transport you back in time.

The TimeMachineFun is currently in the old congregational chapel between East Ashling and Funtington, on the common road, wood end turning. In the 1968, a 'new' road was put to the back of the chapel, this is why it looks back to front. In 2007 the grade II building was unloved and in a derelict state
Please note that the chapel is made from the blocks from the Chichester Cathedral
disaster, in 1850. You are looking at untouched cut blocks and you do not
have to go to the dizzy heights of the cathedral to see them, each one hand cut for this purpose. You will notice smaller and smaller block work. It is estimated the stone was cut about 800-900 years ago.
We welcome individuals, families and groups. Also private and corporate organisations. Schools colleges and universities.
There are different enriching workshops and these will be tailored for
the type of visitor and age group.
